front end poping noise

ok i'v had the front end checked out 3 times and no one knows what is causing the noise. the noise is only notice able when I am either going forward or backwards and i brake causing the front end to either flex or combress then return back to its normal riding position. I have had the ball joints checked, steering components and trac bar. I don't know what else to check and it is eating up my tires very fast so i went ahead and had it aligned so now its not wearing as bad but the sound is really bothering me and it is getting worse.

If you have any suggetions they would be greatly appreciated Thanks.

Check your caliper bolts. Mine did the same thing and turns out the dealer forgot to put the bolts in the front caliper and it was just hanging on by the little metal clips. Put new bolts in it and it fixed my problem.

on my wifes Durango, it was doing the same as you describe. Turned out it was the front sway bar bushings. Not too hard to change out

Control arms.

I had a popping that only happened when I was backing up and turning at the same time, then stopping.
Specifically, backing out of a parking spot.

Passenger side lower arm where it connects to the frame was loose.
(or was it the upper arm? I'm not certain)
Tightened it up and it was fine for about 6 months then it started again.
Hit it with the torque wrench, and it is silent yet again.

If you had it alligned, you'd think they'd check that, but probably only directed their attention on the axle side of them.

Phox I will try tighting the control arm cause your symptoms are pretty much identicle to mine.

Thanks.

Got these numbers from another member,
jfpointer, if you're listening, thank you again.

'02 FSM says 120 ft/lbs for both ends on the upper and 140 ft/lbs for both ends on the lower.

Best to check both passenger and driver side arms, both ends.
Who knows how tight they got them when they alligned it (if they even touched them)
