i have a 99 2wd auto it has the edge juice w attitude and 150 jammer nozzles on occasion (more commonly recently) when u crack my truck sometimes u can press the throttle all the way down and it only goes to about1000 1200 rpms kill it recrank and just tap the throttle and it goes to 4000 and does not come back down after hours of searching here i found a reset procedure for the apps sensor this seemed to work great recently the truck did this to me several time in a couple of days went to dodge bought new sensor put on and very first startup same problem reset apps again and was fine drove truck for a while killed it restarted and same problem straight to 4000 reset my wife drove it to work and home again fine nest morning started and same problem called dodge house said computer may need reflashing used my brothers smarty to pull codes the first one is a companion code the second one is p1687 no mic (mechanical instument cluster, bus message) idk what this means im really flusterated with this truck can any one help me please thanks

 

ok after reseting yesterday (sunday) the truck ran fine all day wife got off at midnight and parked the truck , this morning at 745am i cranked up the truck and it did the problem again. turned off and did the whole push pedel down and up and went thru 3 cycles of the key started up and it was fine what could be happening from midnight till 745 that would cause this truck to act up please help

 

Okay in your VP you have a plunger and the plunger could be getting stuck. How many miles are on this 99? I have a 00 and my goes up to 1200 cold but will not do anything hot so it could be the plunger getting hung up inside the pump. Have you had the codes checked? What is your LP pressure?

 

thank you the dodge house said the same thing personally i dont really care for the dodge house here in town i know the owner personally but i just dont really trust his mechanics but they want to reflash the ecm but if mine is fried will reflashing help? thanks for the link

 

the miles are 209935 the day i put in the 150 nozzles it hickuped but wrote it off as air in lines after about a year of not really having a tach i finally changed the crank sensor saturday before it started happening more frequently i changed the thermostat (truck wouldnt get warmer than 140 the old one was stuck open) i drove it and when i got home killed it for a few and went to cheveron and when i came out it was doing it again the only codes that are on it are the ones in the begging of this post p1687 and p1693 these are the same codes the guy in the link that timbo01 sent me but when it happens i barly tap the throttle and it goes straight to 4000 and dont know if it comes down cause i kill it instantly i have a bullydog big fuel kit bypassing the factory lp and my fuel pressure is 15 idle and no less than 8 at full throttle

You need to have the codes looked at. You might have a hidden code the P1693 is a supporting code for something else. I just had mine done to see if it was the vp and........ It was. Ordered a new one last night. So have it double check as advance or even auto zone to borrow there code reader.

 

I don't think flashing the ECM would help if thats the problem. It could be the VP. Check the codes and I really hope the best for you!!!!

 

i already checked the codes and the only ones where 1687 1693 and another one that dont show up sometimes which is i think 0230 for lp signal out of range but my lp isnt plugged in cause i have it bypassed with the big fuel kit if i have a vp44 code will the smarty pull it the truck has behaved quite well the past few days no problems

 

Does your smarty check history codes?

 

if it does i dont know how not that it matters ive cleared codes several times since ive owned the truck
