Engine Knock

My truck has been making this noise for as long as I can remember. It sounds like rod knock, but on the other hand, it almost sounds normal too.

I am around 12v Cummins all day at work, both 1st and 2nd gens so they seem SO much smoother and quite compared to the 24v.
I'm not sure why Cummins went "backwards" when they made the 24v??

I was going to take a video of my truck, but I can't get the camera to work out right now.

I found this video and you can hear the clank, clank, clank noise that is pretty steady. Alot of background noise, so I'll try can get a vid of my truck tomorrow maybe.

Mine sounds the same way. Theres nothing wrong. The 24 valves are louder than the 12 v cause its got 12 more valves man.

Sounds normal to me. If you want to quiet it down a little bit, dump a litre of two stroke oil in the tank, reduces the injection pump noise. Bio diesel also does this.

I put used engine oil actually. I have a filtering system I built with a 50 micron funnel and then a 10 micron filter.

Here is the video guys.

Please watch it and let me know. It took my poor old computer a good hour to take it off my camera and make that little vid

Something got messed and and the vid cuts out but the audio is still there. I'm not spending another hr getting it right. Toward the end you can hear the knocking pretty good.

Sounds normal to me also. There is an inherent engine bending noise(vibration) with the 6 cyl block.

I have a 5psi light on the truck. It doesn't normally come on unless the pump isn't running, like when I first turn the key on or if I unplug the pump while the truck is running.
