Engine dies when shifting in rev. or drive.

I have and Automatic tranny. And in October I finally bought and installed myself a brand new set of Mach 1.6 injectors. Sense then, after starting the truck in the morning, I'll let her idle for 10 to 20 seconds and shift to reverse or drive, it doesn't matter, and the truck will either stall or come close to it. I can watch the RPM gauge drop down to 300 or 400 before it comes back up and idles fine after that at 800. Once the engine warms up it really isn't an issue. It still kicks into gear a little rough but the engine won't stall.
So what is going on and what can i do to fix it? This never happened before the injector install. I'm fairly certain I did everything correct.

Thanks for the help

I'm interested in any answers as well. I've noticed that when the weather is cold since I got my Goerend tranny I will have the same problem. The tq is so tight that it will almost stall the engine until it warms up the fluid. Yours didn't do that until you changed injectors? I'm thinking of getting the same injectors soon. How do you like them as far as performance. Glad to see someone nearby, I'm up in Hat Creek.

it's possible the lock up converter solenoid may be malfunctioning

Chainzaw, did this ever happen before the new injectors? Is this the first cold weather since you got the Goerend tranny? Still would like to know if the mach 1.6's made much of a difference.

Yes this started the first time i put the truck in Drive after the injector install. I've had the tranny for 3 years now and it's never done this before.
97Dodge I'm not sure that can help me because you have a full mechanical pump and mine is electronic.
It seems to me that I have read of this problem a few years before but I can't remember what the solution was. I do know if I increase the RPMs a little before I shift it won't stall.

yes diffrent pumps but you still have a stop screw under the black cover over the TPS , not sure if that helps you or not but I think 800RPMs is a little to low for the Auto tranny . Hope that helps

Perhaps the IAT is dirty and not reading correctly.

That screw is not for idle adjustment. It is to set the baseline voltage for the throttle sensor. Idle is completely controlled by the ECM. You can not change it.

Clean the IAT, this is the ONLY thing that tells the ECM what the temperature of the intake air is.

I'll clean it the next chance i get. probably not till this weekend. But I don't see why the air temp would make any difference.
It just seems to me that the injectors are changing how my engine idles. And when I add a high compression engine+cold block+strong torque converter+aftermarket injectors the equation is a stall, or close to it, when shifted into gear.
Like I've said this never occurs when the engine is warm, regardless of outside temperature.
