Engine Bogging Down - New FASS DDRP
Engine Bogging Down - New FASS DDRP
Disclaimer: I'm not too savvy under the hood. I'm no chef, nor a mechanic, but I can follow a recipe and instructions.
02 3/4t Ram w/ 135K on it. About two months ago I noticed the RPMs jumping around on the the pickup. Along with the RPMS, the truck would bog down at various speeds. Also happens when the truck is in neutral with my foot on the go pedal. Tried to pull codes, but the gonk came back negative.
Instead of me trying to figure out the problem, I took the truck down to Dodge and had them run a diagnostics. They informed me the LP was going out and had less than adequate pressure. This would be the second time, the truck had a replacement LP when it was under warranty.
After doing some research online, I decided to run with the FASS DDRP. My truck is 98% stock. Received the pump in today and swapped it out myself. Learning curve wasn't bad and only managed to snap off the T-Handle to the oil dipstick. Anyways, got it all put back together and ran it down the road and back. The bogging down is still noticeable. I do notice an increase in power however.
At this point, I'm thinking the VP44 may have been damaged due to the poor pump. Looking for thoughts from the experts out there. I've also replaced the fuel filter. As an aside, still no codes.

First off, double check the fuel pressure. It's possible the entire issue could have been caused by an in tank restriction, or a faulty in tank pump if that was previously installed.
You could have a failing VP44 and possible a failing APPS.
The most common failure is the VP of course.
Get that pressure, check for codes again using the key trick and report back.
