EGT's and Turbos

Ok. I just had gauges installed. they put the Pyro pre-turbo. I see on here that lots of people have them post turbo. Which is best? With that, What should I see in difference. Pre will be higher, but what is too high?
My friend has a powerstroke and his is post. His temps never go above 500 and he has the power programmer with it cranking out 80 more horse. I have the cummins with a TST PM3 and this thing will peg the gauge if I let it. Mine is pre-turbo. ARG!!!!!!!!!!

pre turbo is the best I watch mine on long hills and grades I start to back out at 1200* and have never gone past 1250* some guys with a heavy foot take the EGT to 1300* which if held there can shorten engine life

I have the pre turbo guage and I see 1500 a few times but I can hit 1700 if my plate is slid all the way to the front of the truck. I would not let it get much above 1500 for very long.
DM01

Re:EGT's and Turbos

I can't wait for the spring kit to be put in but I want to do it myself and I hear of some really bad things that make the install really hard. I have some knowledge on hw to do it but have never done anything this major before. I have tweaked some pumps and other stuf. The gov springs seem to be pretty easy but the valve springs look to be a pita and if you mess up you will have a valve inside the engine [undecided]
