A couple of weeks ago I installed a Dakota Digital Exhaust Gas Temperature gauge post turbo about two inches back in that cast <br>elbow. I elected post turbo because the sensor required a 1/4&quot; NPT hole and I have replaced too many manifollds to chance that big a hold. The trouble in on a long pull [camper attached] my EGT will make 1000. From what I have read that is too high, or is <br>it?<br>Before I knew I had a problem I used to pull the pass out of Salt Lake City without ever backing out of it. By the information I have my pan should have been full of puddles of aluminum several <br>times over. Does anyone have a better man EGT post turbo? Could be the guage, but I doubt it.

 

I used to be able to hit 1350 post turbo. That's with a BHAF and 4&quot; straight pipe. Since I got my Edge COMP, I haven't been able to hit a 1000 pre turbo. Which is a lot hotter than post. You should be fine. Do you have anything done to your truck? If it bothers you that much, just back off the throttle some. You can hold 1350 for like 30 secs. I wouldn't recommend that though. If you want, you can get an aftermarket air intake that might help you cool things off a bit.

I came off the stop light a little hotter than normal, and they were right there with me. So I hit it a little harder and so did they. We both finally punched it. I was just starting to edge it out around 50 mph. I thought I heard a solenoid kick on and off on his car. A bunch of kids down here are putting nitrous on them. I hate ricers.

 

I live in SLC and run that pass (Parley's I assume) almost everytime we go camping. I too hit 1000 degrees post turbo and don't have a thing done to my truck. I'm not too worried about, if it can't handle that then I should sell it...which I won't.

 

At first I had my gauge hooked up post turbo and was allways wondering what the true temp was, changed it to pre turbo and sure like it better. Would not run post again, the gauge is much more responsive in the pre possition.

 

do a really cool thing and install two thermocouples, one post and one pre. then switch between them and display the result on one gauge face. watch pre when your're pulling, post when you're tempted to quickly shut down at the station atop the hill after a long hard pull.
