Dodge wiring harness in F-750 with cummins

Not your average question:
I have an 03 F-750 supercrewzer with a 24v cummins. It has all the ford wiring with a cummins computer from the factory. There isn't really a programmer for this setup. There is only one power puck that will work and it will only give me about 50 hp.

I want to splice in a dodge wire harness so I can use all the dodge programmers to really turn this thing up.

Right now its a turd.......has factory cummins programming for commercial trucks.

My question is what wiring/computer will I need so I can use the programmers for the dodge? Do I need any under dash wiring as well?

the puck with 100 HP injectors and the boost elbow would probably really wake that thing up.

Unless he finds a power puck that includes this ??????
You forgot to include a boost fooler otherwise he will be throwing codes and have a check engine light along with a likely de-fuel condition.

I know the older year 24 valve pucks did not tie into the map sensor so no over boost protection was included.

Being a 03 and a commercial application what fuel system do you have is it still a vp-44 injection pump or is it a common rail system the same as an 03 dodge PU would have been?

The older power pucks for a vp-44 system just plugged in at the pump inline (in series) with a male + female connection.

That would work fine until you add more fuel (bigger injectors) which will raise boost pressure even without adding an elbow which will then freak out the computer and it will pull back on the fuel delivered and throw error codes.

A guy that may be able to give you some help on splicing into the ford wiring with a dodge box is a fellow member here by the name of HOHN as he works for cummins.

What are you thinking a smarty or superchips style of down load ?

Would either one of them have problems loading since they vin lock and may not be agree with the ford vin ?

If it was mine, I would check around to see if someone could write a custom tune and install it in your existing ECM.

This is just a normal VP-44 24 valve.

A 99 dodge power puck will work but it says it will only give 50 hp. The few that have added these to their fords say it doesn't seem like it is anywhere near 50 hp --a lot less.

From what I read online, there isn't anyone that can reprogram a cummins computer except cummins

I thought that would have the VP-44 system on it in 03 you will get a nice improvement with the 99 style puck and some RV275 injectors as long as you include a method to limit the amount of boost the computer see's.
Quadzilla makes a stand alone plug in for boost fooling you can pick up off fleabay for under $70.

My friend works for Bridgeway Cummins and lives in northern michigan and would turn it up for you with his laptop but it would be a very long ride for you.
I do not know what is highest HP level he would be able to program in.

What is your current stock engine rating for that installation ?

When Dan got his current small Pete service truck he turned the cummins up not long after he got it and a week later got a speeding ticket

It's been a turd since I've bought it. Everyone with an f650/f750 says they are all turds. Commercial cummins truck programming I'm told is a lot softer than dodge programming.

It weighs 11,000 pounds.

A better question might be:

What mechanical cummins engine is the best all around engine to put in this beast.....L10, 8.3 or ????

I can install pretty much any engine in this thing.

Left front (drivers seat) of the engine their is a plate riveted to the timing cover that has all of the specs on it.

If you were to change that engine a P-pumped 8.3 would be the way to go.

But that little old 5.9 will do a lot .

I am not sure what you are going after or may be towing with that rig keep in mind their is a reason that it was not a race truck tuned from the factory.

What type of tranny is in there now ?

I dont really see a hp rating on the tag. One spot says ISB 225.

I turned this truck into a pickup truck.....put a dually bed on it. This is just a play toy that I drive around.

The truck has a 6 speed

Here is a pic just after I shortened the frame and added the bed back in July '11: Name: supertruck43.jpg
