Re:dodge recall
From what I've gathered from a couple of TV stories on the recall.

It's for 98.5-2002 2500 and 3500 Ram Trucks, didn't specify diesel or gas, but with manual transmission.

The cruise control will suddenly accelerate the vehicle.

The fix is a "reprogramming of the engine control module".

I'm sure more information is forthcoming, as this is obviously a safety issue, and therefore a NHTSA issue.

phox

Might have to avoid this recall notice.

Re:dodge recall
I'm with Darrell,
I don't want,,,, nor do I even know of a dealership that I would trust,,, to reflash my truck.

Besides,,,,, I think I would like a little adventure in the HO-HUM drive to work through heavy traffic! ;D
Re:dodge recall
I got one I would probably trust but mine runs too good like it is. I would be afraid the reflash would casue something else to go wrong so I will probably avoid it too unless I notice a real problem.

Re:dodge recall
Most of these recall-reflashes involve other things besides what's advertised. There was one a few years back that concerned how the PCM handled sensor readings. The same reflash also reprogrammed the PCM to modify the oil pressure gauge reading to 40 psi anytime there were high and low readings, rather than replace the sensor/sender. If you had 80 psi, your gauge read 40 psi. If you had under 15 psi, your gauge read 40 psi.

I'd have to know exactly what the reflash was ALL about before I decide to take my truck in. Check millions of trucks, void hundreds of thousands of warranties for mods, maybe?
