diesel miss
A few days ago, I was driving along in 4th gear (6 speed manual) when the engine missed and the truck "bucked". It did this about 3 times in maybe 10-15 seconds. I had just had the oil, filter, and air filter changed a few minutes earlier. In over 200,000 miles the engine has never missed. I continued driving it for another 30 minutes,, shut it off and drove it another 30 with no repeat missing. The last few days I've driven it repeatedly, shutting it off and restarting it and it''s never missed again. What could this have been? A little history: I am on my 3rd lift pump; the last one was installed IN THE FUEL TANK probably 8 years and 100,000 miles ago.The Dodge dealer that installed it said that the in tank pump would normally show about half the fuel pressure as the old one and it has; about 8 psi at idle. I have a fuel pressure gauge and it shows this normal, 8psi pressure, as it did right after the missing occured. I didn't look at the gauge while it was missing. The odometer reads almost 270,000 miles and the engine has never been touched, although about 15,000 miles ago I had the injectors checked out and they were fine. It does not use oil. I changed the fuel filter about 5000 miles ago. After two APPS installs, last year I installed the TIMBO as the list suggested. I also have pyrometer and turbo boost gauges and they all showing normal readings. I'm NOT mechanically inclinded, but am learning after reading a lot on this list for 12 years

You might want to mention a little more information on your truck specs. since you have none listed!

There are a couple of things it could be. Air in the system is the usual culprit. An occasional bucking could also be the control wires to an injector shorting out / coming loose/ losing ground.
The VP could be the problem but that wouldn't be a one off then work fine again. Check the codes just in case.

Truck died in the middle of the slow uphill lane today. Wouldn't restart. Towed to Dodge dealer for diagnosis. Did the on-off key code test after it died. Showed P PCU and P 1695.
