Help 911 Help

***911 Please Help***

99 Ram 2nd gen 24 valve 2500 6 speed no mods or tuner. started acting up was running well turned it off ate came out after dinner. Tried to start wouldn't start no code replaced CPS sensor started and ran fine short time later it started to hesitate cut off came back up coded TPS sensor replaced sensor drove 500 miles changed fuel filter good pressure to the pump ran fine another 200 miles started ran fine got up to temp. Started bucking and cutting out. No codes thrown. Some have said the ECM others say the VP injection pump. I have good fuel pressure from the transfer pump factory new VP 120,000 miles ago? Any thoughts it starts right up when it cold. It acts up when it comes up to temp. My first thought is the ECM. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and help.

I moved this so you would get more help from the 24 valve guys....My guess is the VP44 go to bluechipdiesel they have a terrific trouble shooting guide there for your IP.

I have seen guys post on here that when it acts up hot, try pouring cold water on the VP44 to cool it off and see if it restarts.

I second that for a quick and easy test.

Also do check for damage of the wiring under the hood. (rodent damage or simply age of the components, broken connectors or short circuits.)

Do you have access to a code reader?

You can do that and if it's not the pump that's the problem it soon will be. Call an injection pump repair shop and ask their opinion of dumping cold water on one? It's a great method of destroying internal components, an instant temperature shock to items measured in a tenth of a thousandth like your pump.
