I have took my truck in to have fuel pressure checked. I sent there because it is 5 psi wot. I figure its under warranty. They call me back and want to charge 80 dollars to clean out fuel line. They say sulfur build up can affect flow. This truck has easy miles and did not idle. I am tempted to say no. I think they want to collect more money. I hate this places

Yeah, that's retarded. Even with the "old" style low sulphur fuel, the sulphur content is limited to 500 parts per MILLION. To put it in more straightforward terms, that's .05%, or 5 percent of 1 percent. That's if the fuel has the maximum allowable sulphur content. Yeah, I'm sure it's piling up in there.
So, I'd politely tell whoever recommended you get the line cleaned of "sulphur deposits) to please put down the crack pipe and back away slowly.

They are pretty much all the same. they want to milk everything.
1) ask them...in writing (tell them to put it in writing)... SO ARE YOU ADMITTING THERE IS A FUEL PRESSURE/DELIVERY PROBLEM?????????
they either have to answer that yes or no, which is it buddy?????
2) if there is NOT...they loose for trying to milk you,
3) if they say there is, document what it NOW IS EXACTLY(according to them) and WHAT IT SHOULD BE......That way they KNOW FOR SURE they will be replacing your l.p. if they cannot bring up the pressure/flow, by cleaning out the fuel line.
If you are not under warranty, tell them to go to hell, because you can't really win financially.
I went through nearly the same thing back when I made them replace my LP and my VP on warranty.
THey milked me for close to 500 bucks, but I had too many jobs going on and figured I just needed my truck back and CORRECTED before the warranty ran out, they sent it back to me once or twice in the course of 3 or 4 days (saying it was fixed having thrown a couple of hundred if my dollars at it each time) and did not fix the "hard start" problem. I sent it back to them on a tow truck with a reminder that I would NOT be calling them the next time, but an attorney would, reminding them they had already wasted a bit of my money fixing things that were NOT on warranty and did not change the problem. A day and a half later I picked it up with a new vp and lp. It's been fine since.
By the way, they will first clean the fuel line, and charge you for that, then they will drop the tank and clean the inlet screen,,and charge you for that,, and drain the gas and clean the tank, etc., and then wonder why it made no difference. I am not sure if they have a little tiny book that tells them how to milk a customer or not, but it sure seems that they all do the same thing.
Unfortunately, in my case, it was the official "trained" cummins mechannic that did it.

First of all 5 psi at wot is about normal. Mine is that and still passes the volume test. What is your problem that you are going in for repairs.

I "thought" that I read somewhere that less than 10# @ any throttle position merited replacing the LP. Anyway the dealer is nuts I've "never" heard of that b/s - sulfer build up. Do like suggested - get them to put it in writing. When I had mine replaced @ dealer under warranty (some 50k ago) they tried to give me a line about something. I told them specifically, loss of power, poor mileage and poor performance when towing (I've never towed anything with it). I also mentioned that I belong to a network of 15,000 members that only own these trucks and I've read numerous posts on the POS LP issues. They didn't like the last part and the Service Writer mumbles something about "**** internet" as he walked away to tell the Tech to install a new LP.
I originally went in because the fellow who installed my guages cracked the cover for fuel heater. He is paying for it. While I was there I told them I had 5 psi at WOT. They checked and said its acceptable. I quess they want to wait till both LP an FP are toast. I thought preventative maintenance would benefit dodges warranty. Apparently they dont think so. I know some here that report 10-12 at wot. Just not sure. OH they said there were seeds in my radiator that needed cleaning out for 100.00 and on and on with stuff. It is in great shape. I keep fuel filter, oil etc changed every 5000. I keep it clean and they still said for 200 more they could check everything over on surface. I feel sorry for uneducated people who use these people. They pros at making you think you need something that you dont.
