PSD price gouging?

Last night we ran into a friend of my other half. She mentioned they were going thru trucks in search of a reliable trailer puller and ended up with a 2000 PSD. First was a GMC that lost the trans at 10K so they dumped it. They ended up with the Ferd,Which lost the trans at 40k, then She said the water pump went south on a trip and it cost $450 for the pump and $300 to install it. Good lordy, is this right? Sure glad our CTDs are $70 or so and 2 bolts to remove

Hmmm if they are eating trannys like that maybe the trucks they pick are not spec'd correctly? I put almost 300k on my last powerstroke (manual trans) and only one water pump. Didn't cost me near that either. Me thinks they should be lookin at 6 spds.

The price for the pump I think is high, but I don't think they are cheap. As for the labor there is a lot of stuff to move on a PSD just to get to the pump.
