Crank Spanner
Crank Spanner
Didn't know what else to call it. I fabbed it up in about an hour to hold the crank on my 2001 24 valve, auto trans so I could remove the balancer and the timing cover in order to change the front seal, and check the KDP. turns out I must have an updated timing gear case, as the hole for the dowel is shouldered. I thought someone might benefit from the idea.
It's made from a 1 3/4" long piece of 4" rigid conduit, a piece of 1/2" rigid for the handle and some 1/4" plate. It fits onto the balancer and grabs the slots. I did the job without having to remove the fan shroud, just had to drain a bit of coolant and remove the top radiator hose to get to everything I needed.
