Clutch Smoking
Clutch Smoking
Yesterday I got in some loose dirt with the truck and trailer. By the time I worked it out and got back on to firm ground the clutch was smoking. Seems to be ok after cooling off but I think a new clutch may be needed soon.
Is there any adjustment on the factory clutch? If not what kind of new clutch would you recommend?
I am looking for something in the middle of the road in price, which will hold up under fairly heavy towing

I agree with thumper...don't replace it just because of a little smoke. At 1700 miles I over confidently tried a 3rd gear pull at the local truck pull. And smoked mine hard!!
Everyone said I would replace it before 40000miles between laughs and snickers. I almost got to 200000miles and replaced it just cause not because of slipping. I have been told that if I Would have heavily modified my engine It would have slipped sooner. But on a slightly above stock truck my stock clutch lived a long life. Even after being abused as a youngster.
