changing oil

Happy New Year everyone. Well I figured I'd head toward the garage yesterday and change the oil in the truck between football games. Easy enough right. Wrong! I could not budge the oil plug. I used some PB Blaster, which usually is a miracle in loosening frozen fasterners but as of last nite still couldn't budge. Has anyone had similiar experience and what did you have to do. Thanx.

Sometimes I use a cheater bar because some money tightened it too tight. Did I mention I'm the only one that changes my oil?

Have seen some put back in WAY to tight!
You'll just have to lean on it till it comes loose.
Good news is I don't think you can hurt anything down there.
And, if you have not heard it before... Fleetguard Filter only!!!!

I allways use a cheater bar. Don't know why they get so tight. Have to do the same on the T-case.

I use a 1/2 " breaker bar with a 3/8" adapter to loosen it, and a 3/8" breaker bar to tighten it back up.

success

Thanx for the responses. Went out this morning and used a torque wrench on the plug and when I heard a snap I was almost afraid to look but it broke loose. I had previously ordered a FP guage from Geno's and ordered fleetguard oil filters at the same time. Thanx again.

I think I have just the opposite problem. I changed my oil early last week, had the truck in the garage today and it left a small puddle. So when I go under to check its leaking around the drain plug. Put the ratchet on it and it feels tight? I am always affraid of "tightening untill turns freely". Hope it took care of it, never down it before. Anyone else ever had that happen?
