Changing Oil in 2003 Jetta

My mom has a 2003 Jetta and I go out yesterday to change the oil and there is a big plastic plate, I had to take this off to get to the drain plug. Is there an easier way or is this how it is done????? Thanks. Kyle

There are forums just for VW and for the Jetta. You may find the answer quicker there.

Kswanner, go to the tdiclub.com forums for VW Questions. To answer yours though, yes, you have to remove the screws to the belly pan each time to change the oil. The good thing is you only need to change it every 10k miles! ;D
