Changing liftpump.
Replacing lift pump in a 2001. Just want to know if there are any procedures I should follow, don't want any air in lines how do I prime the pump to prevent this.
Basically you take out the old and put in the new. Make sure you use new banjo washers (they usually come with the kit) and bump the starter. It may take a few bumps to get things going. You will hear the sound of the pump change as fuel flows into it. Then fire it up!
If the pump is still in the stock location, make sure you pull out your dipstick. I hit mine with my elbow and cracked it...total pain...easy to avoid though. This applies if you will be approaching the project from the top.
Good luck

If you have time take the stock LP back and get an after market LP like a Walbro or FASSII. You'll be doing this job again in a year or so.
Get a fuel pressure guage and you'll see a drop in pressure in a year signaling the death of the stock LP....again.

There are 2 bolts holding the FF in. pull them and it it is easy to move, so access to the LP is much better.
The new campaigh pump at Cummins seems to work better, $65 or so. You can get a lot of them for the price of a FASS.
The Vulcan big line kit seems to be a good mod to rid the banjo bolts, move the LP near the tank, hopefully keep VP44 happy.
