Changing lift pump,,,,help`

I have installed a electric pump from a Versatile tractor, I fed the power direct from battery, leaving my original connector open, I left the original pump off. Now truck won't fire up, no fuel at high pressure lines. I have about 14 lbs pressure on gauge at lift. Would leaving my original connector open cause the engine to think there is no fuel therefore not turning on the high pressure pump?

The engine will try to start even if there isn't enough fuel pressure, that is why the ip could go out if the fp is bad. I have no clue how to solve you problem though.

Why not power the pump from the original connector???

So there isnt any fuel at the HP lines, but 14 psi at the pump? Is there any fuel at the HP lines while cranking?

Did you crack open the HP lines to get the air out of the system?

Yes, thanks to all, I had to loosen 3 main lines than she started to poof in the exhaust, tightened them up and off she roared. It will run with the original wire harness unplugged, but my cheap fix did not work. only 5 lbs pressure and about 3 when at 2000 rpm. I ordered the original from Cummins today, might as well keep it stock.

The last sentence"might as well keep it stock" is not necessarily such a grand idea. These "stock" lift pumps have a rather poor track record.
