Bye bye fuel problems
The stock fuel crappy system seems to have fallen off my truck while I was at Forest City Diesel in Mo last week.
When we put it back on, it looked amazingly like the FASS system, weird.
For those of you that are tired of the substandard lift pumps, goofy banjo bolts, and hard to change fuel filters, look into the FASS. With EZ and DDII's the fuel pressure gauge stays pegged at 16 even under full load up the mountains.
Filter and seperator will go something like 80000 miles now.

I'm considering this system ver seriously. Only problem with it is that it hasn't been on the market very long and it pretty expensive. I can pick up 6 Holley Blue pumps for the price of one of those.

I read somewhere (on this site, I think) that the fuel filter on the FASS is not as good at filtering as the stock fuel filter. That true?
And have you noticed any difference in performance/fuel mileage? I have really been kicking this idea around a lot. That lift pump ruining my VP44 scares me to death!

What brand of pump motor do they use with the FASS system? Also FASS is a copy of an identical system that has been out for sometime I just cannot remember the name off the top of my head.

Not sure what the motor is, it's all painted up real nice and pretty and the machine work is top quality it appears. This system has been used on the big trucks for a good while so I am told. I know I sure like it a lot so far.

Pcab4, you are thinking of the Fuel Preporator. I have heard the FASS people are some kind of family association with those who made the Preporator, and they are in court about the FASS being identical to the Preporator, but this is rumor.
My filter that came with the FASS did not seal well. I cracked the paint on the filter housing because I had to twist it so tright to keep it from leaking. That filter made it for a week. I replaced it with a Baldwin 5 micron filter. It seals and filters better than the 10 micron that came with the FASS.

The FASS system looks really sturdy however the price, while probably worth it, is a bit high...i did a pusher for $100- and i get 20 at idle, 16 cruise, no lower than 11 WOT, i do have the max-flow kit too...my feeling is if one dies, i will still have some pressure, around 6lbs. lower w/ the pusher turned off....just my .0002

I considered this as well. I went with a Holley Blue back by the tank, no Carter LP, and modified the Max Flow System to fit. Works really well so far!
Time will tell for all of us I suppose.

While I really like the idea of removing entrained air, I will probably NOT go with either the preporator or the FASS.
For that money, I can buy an Aeromotive A1000, which is all but bulletproof (even better than the PE 4200s).
I will probably go to a bulkhead fitting and a bottom feed system when the stock pump can no longer meet fuel delivery requirements.
With the max flow, I get 18psi at idle with my original lift pump, and no less than 11psi WOT. This is with DD2s and EZ.

Joel, I can get you a Baldwin 5 micron filter for this weekend if you need it. I keep a spare at the shop [ when I can keep Stamey away from it] Are you ready to dyno your truck now? Tim

If your fuel pressure is good, it could be the 44 going down hill. Mine actually feels like it is missing under load real bad. See in my case, like a dumb you know what, I never even checked my fuel pressure till the truck had 101000 miles on it. I had pulled all over the east coast, mid west and into Canada by then. I believe I probably burnt mine up since there was not enough fuel to keep it cool. Fuel pressure at the time I checked it was 5 at idle and 0 going down the road. This is a bad thing.
Guess I'm going to pay for it now.
