What is typical boost to see out of a 01 Cummins with auto. Banks high ram intake and 4" exhaust. I see a max of 17lbs with or without "EZ" Edge chip.

 

Sounds low.

Stock is limited to 21 psi, the EZ can take that up to around 30 psi

 

Sounds like an air leak. As stated, you should see 20-23 psi stock. With EZ's boost fooler and disabled wastegate you should be at least 30. Is there any difference in power or smoke with EZ?

Perhaps a little low IF you dont have a boost fooler. I think with the boost fooler you should be around 30 and 18-21without depending on your gauge.

 

It runs much better with the chip in. With chip out fuel economy sucks. 10mpg with sled bed. Were is the most common place for a air leak?? Is there any way to make the wastegate open at more boost????

 

Common places are the flex boots. There are 4 of them. One coming off of the turbo, one on each side of the intercooler, and one attached to the intake horn. The most coommon one for leaking is the lower left boot. Sometimes it rubs on something nearby and it can leak if it wears through. A not so common leak is the intercooler itself.

 

You have a hardline wastegate, I believe. Have you closed it off so it does not engage, so you can get max boost?

Yes its a hardline. How do I block it off????

Searches take some time..but its all part of the education. They are your best friend..once you get use to them. Even reading what you aren't looking for(right now) is good knowledge for future.

can u put a spring on it instead of the turnbuckle so it just opens alittle. Say adjust to get 23-24lbs of boost.

Edit: Also what is max you want to see for EGT temp. MIne is installed on the manifold before the turbo.
