I checked the codes on my truck today, and got the bad news.

P 1693 code stored

P 0216 injector pump

I have been looking at some other forums and researching some of the other things on here also about the 0216 code. I have noticed that sometimes a clogged fuel filter or a bad lift pump will contribute to the truck activating this code.

Truck still cranks fine, and does pretty good, just has the dead pedal syndrom in early mornings and at lunch, rest of the time it is fine. I ordered a new lift pump from cummins today for $154.05. I will install it this weekend.

Question. How long will the vp44 last if I get this changed this weekend. It is not dead at all, and the service dept, thinks it is the apps that is causing the dead pedal, and wants me to replace it.

Before you replace the APPS do a reset on it (do a search on how to do the reset)
Change out your filter. I think you should get a fuel gauge on your LP before you change it out as it may not need changing. But with the codes and symptoms you are discribing it looks like the IP is going south. Just my $.02
