Angry Blowby Spatter???

I have about 10,000 miles on my rebuilt cummins and quite often I'm cleaning up my plastic blowby drain bottle. It used to only fill partially up from oil change to oil change. What is up with that????

At 10k it's probably just getting broken in and the rings aren't fully seated.

To fully seat rings, and break engine in, you need to tow something fairly heavy (min 3000lbs+) for 3-4 hours total then c/o oil and filter.

This will nearly stop blowby, make engine run much smoother, drop oil consumption, and give better performance and mileage.

If you've got a gravel drive, head out to the quarry and pick up about a ton to level out the low spots. Drive around with that in the box for a week or so, and take the long, hilly way everywhere you go and you'll be set. It's how I did mine anyway.

Why not just get rid of the breather bottle and not worry...

There is a few of us that have made different thing to cure this problem...

BuckshotMcKee, jr dodge diesel, and myself... Each version has pluses and minus points...

But here is a link to mine...

Good idea to get rid of puke bottle as suggested. I simply ran a new hose from the 90degree fitting where stock puke bottle hose was, and extended it further down to front of axle, and tie strapped it to engine area, so fan won't touch it. DodgeDiesel what part of Alberta are you from?

When I get back, I am going to clean the outside of the Rad really well, just to make sure it is still clean.

See I told you to leave it with me while you were gone to Afghanistan, I would have taken really good care of it , and hardly put ANY miles on it.

I gather you guys don't go off road much if you extend you vent down to the front axle...

As in my link I extended up and over the engine on down over the back by the flywheel... Lot less oil loss and steep descents don't bother it now!
