Block heater plug burned up

I plugged the block heater in and right in my hands it caught fire and arched. LOL... To much excitement for me. Litterally had flames.

I followed the line back to the block and I cannot see any rub or other sources of grounding. Any ideas? How can I tell if the block heater is bad?

I see I can buy the new lead at geno's or the local cummins store. Thanks

Most common area of failure is right at the plug. I buy a hd replacement end from a hardware store for like 2 or 3 bucks and it takes 5 minutes to repair.
