Block cracking number
Re:Block cracking number
Mine 99 is a 53 block but I figure I'll just grind off the 53 and it won't crack.
<br><br>Living in Indiana there's plenty of 5.9 blocks around these parts. 8) Plus Cummins is just up the road a peace so I think I could find a block if I had to.<br><br>DB

Mine has 55 in the block. Where is this one from? It is a replacement from my cracked one.

55 is the thick one. You won't have any problems.

Re:Block cracking number
I'm just curious if these block numbers have anything to do with geography. I've been shopping for a 24V here in Phoenix and looked under four trucks in a row tonight. A 99, 01, and two 97's 12Vs out of curiosity. Every single one had a 5 digit block code (smaller than the 1 inch tall 53 etc that have been discussed and located level with the harness front driver's). From the sounds of things the 53 seems to be a very widely distributed block. Strange that the first four trucks that I climb under have the five digit code. Well, I'm going to look at the truck I'm most interested in tomorrow... Hopefully I can keep the winning streak going ;D.
