Black gunky substance?

As I changed my fuel filter yesterday, I was checking out the truck under the hood as well. When I went to check the power steering fluid, I noticed that the resevoir is completely caked with oil. The power steering resevoir lid was completely coverd with a black soot and you couldnt even see the yellow label on top of it The oil level and other fluid levels look fine. Where is this crap coming from?

Mine gets like that too I keep cleanig it. So I replaced the seal on the cap no more goop on cap. But after doing that when ever I removed the cap after the truck as ran to check it, the resevoir had built up sum air persure. Not alot but I could hear and feel air come out. So sum fuild most have been coming out the seal when the tank builds pressure.

Its supposed to catch all of the oil/blowby residue from the tube. Well this creation (Puke bottle) is junk. It has holes in it to vent the blowby, but it also vent the oil that it collects. When it gets full the engine fan will blow this crap all over the engine and radiator. I always empty mine everytime I change the oil. Im guessing its the first time mine has even been cleaned out (Found a zip tie laying on the bottom).

I think im going to extend my tube down, take the bottle, throw that in the trash.
