Exclamation Belzona 1111 Super Metal - 53 Block solution?

been reading a lot of positive reviews about this commercial grade epoxy, it would not surprise me in the least if this product would patch and hold for a very long time on the dreaded cracked 53 block.

just thought i would put this idea out there for feed back.

Belzona Super Metal (1111) is the absolute best for engine block
repairs.
Caterpillar specifies Belzona for engine repairs.
Belzona does not rot, shrink, or corrode. Other products, when tested
in the exact same tests, all have lower mechanical properties.
If you are after good long term results, the Belzona products are very
inexpensive.

Ive used belzona to repair aluminum before. Never used it on cast iron. That is some really tough stuff though!!! I bet it would work pretty well if the surface was prepped right.

Used Belzona to patch a fuel tank leak on a 50 year old ship once. The ship had a rivited hull (1930's technology) and all the fuel tanks were rivited together. Belzona sealed the leak!

I work at a refinery and we use Belzona to repair certain pieces of equipment. If it is good enough for use here it will probably do a heck of a job on these blocks. I have a contact with Belzona if we want to ask any questions.

we have belzona at work to repair various cast pieces. never though to use it on a 53 crack. I don't think it will hold up to the heat cycles and will fail enough to leak again.

did a search with "belzona" found a few reports of this stuff...

also read one where the guy drills and taps a plate over the crack, after drilling the ends of the crack to stop it from spreading, I think this would be the route I would try if my 53 block every dies

I would take this post in to consideration, I would have trouble believing it would hold up to the heat cycles, we just talked about this in my Engineering Materials Class last week.
