banjo bolt ?

Yesterday I installed my gauges. When doing the fuel pressure gauge I over tightened the conection at the vp44 and bugared up the schrader valve. I removed the banjo bolt and took it to the dealer to try and get a replacement. I almost fell on the floor laughing when they told me I would have to buy a new injector pump. They said that was the only way to get a new banjo bolt. So I went to the local big rig shop. They contacted cummins and can get a new one but not for a week. I plan on getting a replacement from geno's. My question is can I get away with removing the needle valve from the banjo bolt(the part I messed up) and hook up my gauge and still drive the truck till I get a new banjo bolt?
Thanks CJ

I think it should work just fine without the valve core...took a minute to remember what we useta call'em....as long as you have no leaks.
I'd take the banjo bolt/Schrader valve off the VP to remove the valve core and be certain there's no loose pieces to get inside your VP and ruin it...you're on the clean side of the filter, no last chance.
