Axel nut

I am gearing up to make my first attempt at ball joints, i printed Mr. Gadget's post with great instructions and i am about ready but i do not have a 1-11/16 socket for the axel nut- no problem- ebay, sears..
my question is does this need to be a deep socket??
anyone who has done this job should know

thanks for any info you can provide !!

When I did my front axle u-joints on my 3rd gen I ran over to Northern Tools and got a 6 point impact socket (not deep wall) and a 3/4" breaker bar - both in-expensive. The socket performed well, the breaker bar was cheap but worked for what I needed it for...
