Auto Transmission shifting problems
So here is the deal. Its a bit hard to diagnose as the case is not always exactly the same, but here is the gist of it. The trans is rarley wanting to shift out of 1st and 2nd at the proper RPM (and sometimes not at all). I can get it to shift by letting off, shifting into neutral for a split second, and pulling it back down into drive. It will catch pretty hard and goes into 4th and locks up with no problems. Sometimes it will shift into 2nd like there is nothing wrong, but wont shift into 3rd without the "trick" (but sometimes it does). More often than not, it requires me to go to neutral. I find that if I get into the throttle in 1st it tends to shift more reliability, however sometimes it gets high enough up in the rpm's and it feels like maybe something is slipping (im no longer gaining speed). Ive had this issue for a few months and got the trans fully serviced less than 500 mi ago. There were no peices of shavings in the pan, and the bands werent very far out of alighment. I havent made a big deal of it as its summer right now and im riding my motorcycle every day. Im hoping its something that I can just change out myself.

Since you are confident no mechancial troubles with tranny clutches and such, you may proceed to another level of performance. How about a performance valve body??? Basically a bolt on fix. Sould like some sensor is starting to mess up. Possibilitys are RPM sensor on side of extension. Doesn't seem likely but #1 in ease of replace and not very expensive. Next is gov pres transducer and gov pres solenoid in valve body(likely). Add just a pint of extra fluid in case is pumping air sometimes. The odds start getting serious if not resolved at this time.

I have replaced the speed sensor on the side, I guess ill try the other 2. How hard are they to replace? Can they be seen when I take off the pan or do I have to start taking things apart?
thanks

Yes just take off the pan and they are on the valvebody. You'll see them. A few small bolts/screws and electrical connectors and you're done. Pretty easy except for the mess of trans fluid.
