My 01 4x4 when i am on the edge on level 3 or higher when you get on it from a stop or little roll the trans will no shift out of 1st untill you let up but if you ease into in on level 5 it will shift is this a sign that my trans is going. if so where in the detroit mi area is a good place to get it fixed and what up grades can i do. truck has 160,000 miles and has allways had tranny oil changed. never have had the trans serviced besides oil change. thanks

Could be something as simple as a TV cable adjustment.

 

You mention changing Tranny Fluid...did you change the fliter also...or adjust the bands? If not I would start there.

Dodges have had reported problems with not going into 1st gear...starting out in second. Mine did this and it was "pressure accumulator switch"...or something like that. It was an fairly inexpensive fix at the dealer. Sound somewhat similar to your problem.

Don't know anyone in Michigan...but I would call DTT...see if they have an installer in your area. He can diagnose your problem and you can go from there. They are experts on our trannies and don't just do the full DTT rebuilds....at least until you need it!
