Auto tranny trouble
Auto tranny trouble
My '99 CTD auto tranny started acting up the other day. Two problems occurred simaltaniou....together. Slow, or sluggish on takeoff and won't shift into OD. Played with button, shifter, rpm's, and checked fluid, but can't make it do anything different.
Is this indicative of any one thing? I don't have a lot of time to fix it and can't afford for it to be down very long, so It'd be nice to line up the suspect parts.
Thanks, Keith

I'd say it's something like that, only with the sluggish start, it seems more like a fluid problem. Maybe the torque converter. I don't know if this would keep it from shifting into OD though.

if the governor solenoid and transducer fails it can cause 3rd gear starts which will be real sluggish. with the shifter in N turn off engine, restart and shift to 1st and see what it does. if it starts off in low replace the electronics in the pan.
another test if you have a 0-100 PSI gauge it to check governor pressure.

Yep! time to spend money on overhaul.
