ATF+3 or not?

hi everyone. i recently just changed the filter and fluid in my tranny and i used ATF+3. but the thing is i thought it was a 46RE tranny and i was wrongly informed about that so i'm wondering if this is the correct fluid to use or should i go on ahead to the dealership for the fluid.
just curious.

thanks all

You should be using ATF+4.
I would recommend flushing your trans fluid with ATF+4 because if you just drain and fill you will not get what is in the T/C.

47re=ATF+3

I've got a 99 2500 47re which you should have also. Your owners manual states ATF+3. ATF+4 was introduced with the 48re, mid-'03. You should be fine.

My 2002 requires ATF+4.

I ran about 10K-15K on about unknown ratio of +3 and +4, no problems.

I was trying to fix a leak at my temp sender, lost 4 quarts, couldn't find +4 so I used +3, leak not fixed.
Tried again, a couple months later, same thing, 4 quarts lost, but found Valvoline Extreme ATF (+4 compliant per the back of the label), and ran that mix for another 5K+.

I'm pretty sure they changed something in the TC clutch packs for the later years of the 47RE, which required a new formulation of ATF to lessen the "grabbiness" or something like that.

Sorry guys! I guess they must of changed fluid specs. in later 47re's. Even with my DTT upgrade Bill Kondalay recommended ATF+3. Fourteen quarts w/tapped T/C and Mag-hytec,gasket and filter keeps it under $35.00. When I first purchased it a quicky place did an exchange w/Mercon and tranny was not happy. I had it exchanged with Mopar ATF+3 at the dealer($165.00 ouch) Happy tranny but sore wallet.

Cool Atf+3?

I was told by oil supply warehouse that ATF+3 is a thing of the past.
It is being replaced by MULTI VEHICLE FLUID.
They said my dodge dealer does not use mopar atf+3.
They use Quaker state multi vehicle fluid in their bulk tanks.
Nice of them to let us know rite?

My 01.5 requires ATF +4. It's funny though, when I changed to the DTT valve body, they told me to run either +3 or dextron.

Stephan told you +3??
He told me +4 or Amsoil (meets +4)

I do know Bill seems to prefer +3 or Dexron 3 (no t).

CHEVY S.G. - I would drain the pan only and fill with ATF+4. You will be fine with a mix of +3 & +4... and save some money!!
If your tranny does not like it...will start shifting harder...but have never heard of that happening.
