If you decide to replace the APPS then Timbo is the only way to go. Mine was surging and cutting out, replaced with the Timbo and no more problems, been a year.

My APPS went out on me, 2nd time, first time was in 2004, so I took it to the dealer to get it fixed. In 2004 it cost me $420 to get it scanned and replaced. Yesterday it was $120 for the scan and $720 plus 8.3 sales tax for the sensor and install. I could buy a OEM replacement from Amazon.com for $420 or a Timbo for $165. I read Timbos replacement instructions and sent off an order yesterday afternoon.

It will come & go but your running on borrowed time. I didn't realize how bad my truck was running until I replaced the unit. My fuel milage is back and the truck is running great.

Got the TIMBO in and adjusted. No surging at lower end and truck seems to start faster.

Trans hunting may be ground issue.

So I was getting some surging on the way into work this morning and I started reading and it led me to reset/ recalibrate the APPS. After the reset, now the truck wont start. HELP!

The truck was running fine and only surging in 5th and 6th gear. I pulled over and was going to change the fuel filter but i didn't have a 28mm to get the cap off so I jumped back on the road and would change it here at work. Driving i was going 65+ mph and there was no more surging. I still attempted the APPS reset multiple times and it still wont start. The truck started and idled fine after the fuel filter change, but not after the reset. I hope I can get a response soon on this so i can get this thing back running and drive home.

2002 Dodge 3500 24v 6 speed, 251,000 miles on the dot (ironically)

Thanks guys!

You can qualify the apps failing if the truck does not surge when the cruise is in use...

What apps reset procedure did you use?

I disconnected the batteries and turned the key on with the parking brake in place, let it sit for about 45 minutes. Then reconnected the battery, turned the key to the ON/RUN position, slowly depressed the throttle pedal to the floor, then slowly released the pedal, turned key off. released parking brake, then cranked the truck.

The truck just cranks but doesn't start. I turned the valve to drain the fuel filter bowl and there was fuel in there. and after two more tries, there was still fuel in there again.

I did notice that the first time I felt it a couple days ago, it was when the cruise was on, and I havent used it since to see if it happened again.
I did cycle the key to check for codes and there were none. My buddy is bringing his scan tool tomorrow so we can scan it to see the hard and soft codes on it.
