Disconnect both batteries overnight. While batteries are still disconnected, turn key to 'run' to drain any residual charge in capacitors. Reconnect batteries, turn key to run (not start) and slowly depress accelerator all the way to the floor and then slowly let it back up. Turn off key. Bob's your uncle, APPS is reset. You may not need to leave it overnight, but
I am sure it is at least a couple of hours.

Thanks for this post. When I bought my truck 1.5 yr ago the check engine lite was on because of the APPS. The dealer replaced it, but he used a mech. down the street. I wonder if he did reclaute it. So I will follow this post and see.

APPS Reset worked
Tried this back on the 19th of June and so far so more surging.So I'll say I think it's gonna take!

SixSlug, does the surge go away when you use cruise? The cruise on the 6spd trucks is electronic and when in use the APPS is taken out of the loop.
If it goes away, it's almost a sure thing the APPS is going to sleep.
