Anybody know what this is? nv4500

I am doing the swap on the 29th and I already have everything to do it. Really, the only question I have on this is the speedometer. Since this tranny is out of a 12 valve, does that mean the speedo has to be mechanical? I just noticed this harness and I was wondering if maybe it was the speedometer.. T
Thanks,
Lance

Your speedo pickup is in the rear diff. Forget about the sensor on the side of the tranny.

Ok thanks a bunch.

I have one more question...I ordered the Flywheel bolts and pressure plate bolts from the dealership, but I completely forgot about the bellhousing bolts. Since these wont be under any stress like the flywheel is, I was going to just get some grade 8 bolts from fastenal. Does Anybody happen to know the correct thread and size these are supposed to be?
Thanks

well, they're metric so they won't be grade 8. they'll be marked 9.8 or 10.9 as an ISO class.

I just don't recall what they are though. M8 or M10 I think.

Bellhousing to engine adapter bolts are 3/8", about 2" long. Grade 8 is way over kill for those anyway. Grade 5 is adequate. Tranny to bellhousing bolts are 1/2", about 1-1/2" long.

Ok thanks...

Firing order guy, you say they are metric but tate says they are standard.. Are we all talkin about the same bolts?? I just need to get the ones that bolt the bellhousing to the engine adaptor because the auto tranny bolts are too short...

Thanks again

Tate has more posts, so that must count for something...
Just kidding. Most folks have 3/8ths or 1/2" bolts lying around- thread one in and see.

Ya I think 153624 was talking about the flywheel bolts maybe???? but IDK for sure.

I know the four tranny to bellhousing are 1/2", but I havent had a chance to pull one out of the auto bellhousing yet to check the thread size. Ill have to do that tomorrow.

Thanks for the help again,
Lance

Bellhousing to engine (adapter) are standard 3/8" bolt, 3/8-16 I think, and something like 8 of them.
