Anybody use Amsoil in '03 NV4500 & Trans Case?

Just wondering if anyone likes the Amsoil in their NV4500 and in the transfer case. Really I guess in the differentials as well. I met a local dealer and he gave me some great prices, less than Royal Purple actually. I plan on changing my trans fluid and transfer case soon. And believe it or not I can't find the drain plug for the transmission. I guess I am blind. Any responses would be appreciated. Thanks Aaron

Aaron,
I used to have a 98.5 Dodge 2500 4x4 with the NV4500. I ran Amsoil in that rig religously, and it ran really well. I'm actually thinking about becoming a dealer, myself. I use it in my '03 rig I have now. It is a really good oil and it pays for itself in the long run. Try it, you'll like it !!!!!

If you use one of their new transmission specific lubes, then it'll probably be OK. I had a bad experience using their "top of the line" GL-EVERTHING gear lube in my NV4500(which was recommended by an amsoil marketeer). This was a 75W-90, the OEM fill in these transmissions is a 75W-85. So it was actually too thick for the application, and transmission lube must have the proper coeffiecient of friction to allow synchro engagement. My transmission went from shifting like butter, to having to use both hands sometimes to select a gear. It didn't take me long to see the light. It was dumped, and I found a correct spec lube for it. Shift quality is now back to where it was.

You remove the lowest bolt on either of the PTO covers to drain the fluid. I've found it best to raise the back of the truck to level out the transmission, that gets all the old out, and 4 new quarts will go in without leaking out.
