anybody ever experienced this?

my driveway is sloped so the truck sits nose high overnight. today when i started and backed out of the driveway i noticed about an 8" puddle. i stopped the truck on level ground and got out to look. looked like i had a fuel leak by the time i got under the truck it had stopped, i looked for the problem i notced that it was coming form the top of the tank and draining down the sides and dripping. it only happened right at start up and i cannot get it to do it again. i checked all day long and even got out and let the truck run in the driveway and no drip. is there some knd of overflow on the tank or could it sitting in that position cause this? was really weird. i will check tomorrow morning when i start it to see if it does it again. it was a full tank of fuel but it has never done that before??

I beleive there is a vent on the top of the tank. There was even a TSb about the cap being left on the vents at the factory. Due tot he hill, you may need to extend your vent up higher with a short section of fuel hose.

Same problem previously on full tank. Discovered the tightening ring on the fuel sending unit was loose. Remove the l.r. tire and inner fender and if you have small to medium hands you can reach in and tighten it up. If you got big hands- have the band-aids ready. Option 2, remove the p.u.bed. Frank

no dice on the small hands. i need to replace the unit for the fuel gauge anyway, guess now is good a time as any to pull the bed and fix this stuff. it has not done it since by the way. i have checked it after start up on level ground and the driveway and nothing. maybe it was just a fluke.

Mine would only spill fuel if I tried to squeeze in the extra gallon of fuel after the nozzle clicked. Frank
