another cracked 53

I love my truck. It has been a great one except for the 53 problem. I have a chance to buy a 1995 12v truck for less then $3800 with 160,000 miles on it. Truck has a new injection pump, batteries, starter, upholstry, and head liner. My thought was to buy the truck to get me by while I do a LNS repair on my other one. The problem is this is a 2-wheel drive reg cab. My 24 v is 4-wheel. The other thought was to use the 12v motor in my 24v. Probably would need several other parts to make it work. Wiring harness, pcm, etc. etc. Is this a plan, or bad idea?

Take the $3800.00 and buy another engine. The Lock 'n Stitch is an iffy repair. Bad idea. Thanks Steve B.

12v the truck instead. Beefy block, and you do away with the VP timebomb. It doesn't take much to make the 12v run (fuel and switched power), the hard part would be to get the dash to work properly, specifically the tach. Its definitely doable.

LNS is said to fail by Cummins - I bought the Kit but research agreed with Cummins so I changed the engine.
