Another cracked window
When I first moved to So. Dakota I wondered why so many cars/trucks were driving around with cracked windshields. In VA. it would get you a ticket. Anyway, it didn't take me more than one winter to understand why. Living in a rural environment, there's lots of gravel..... there's always some vehicle kicking up a rock at just the right moment. And then there's the D.O.T. sand/snowplows too. With the extreme cold temps in the winter, once you get a chip in the windshield you might as well figure you'll have a cracked windshield before too long. My truck has had a cracked windshield for about two years (not that I like having the cracked windshield, so I feel for you) and last year my '05 Durango got two big chips in the w/s. If I lived in the city I'd get new windshields, knowing that I wouldn't have such a high probability of getting another chip or crack the next snow season. But, I do feel for you!
Yep, passenger side front first, drivers side rear mega, now drivers side front. And they still won't replace the window tint. Cracking because they went to a laminated glass in 06, supposed to be safer in a crash. 2007 model my brother bought they have switched back to tempered glass. Probably because they recognized a problem. So far they are still replacing them, just the process I hate, drive it up there and let the dealer take a bunch of pictures, send to DC and wait on an okay to replace, the dealer orders the window and then after making an appointment, they replace. The glass, not the tint. Sucks.

I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab. Last winter I walked out of my house one morning and the driver side rear door window was shattered. Yesterday I walked out of the house and found my drivers side front door had a foot long crack in a t shape. Glass installer today said it came from the very bottom of the glass that was hidden in the door and coulda been like that for a long time. Gettin pretty tired of having them replaced. Truck has 40,000 miles on it and two windows have been replaced, electric rear window motor replaced twice, electric rear window switch replaced once, a/c heater blower motor replaced twice...getting tired of the truck. Bought it brand new thinking I wouldnt have to deal with all this!!!

Do you have the extended warranty? Or, is Chrysler actually admitting they erred in using the laminated glass?? and replacing due to their poor choice of glass materials. The basic warranty died at 36K, only engine has 100K.

Is that a common problem? Why can't the dealer just put the tempered glass in it?
