Air in fuel system at start...

I have been dealing with this for some time and it is getting worse so need to find the reason. After the truck sits for a hour or two or more, the fuels system is air bound at the pump area. The powerful FASS system has the power to overcome it, unless it is truly out of fuel or had the system open for some reason, like changing the engine, than it is a hassel. It is getting worse so in the future there will be a problem starting.

The injection system does not get air, just the feed system. I have gone over the fuel system totally, removed the quick disconnect at the tank and so on. Best I can figure it is coming from the tank. After sitting and turning on the key, you can hear the pump gurgle on the air and then catch.

I don't remember just what is in the pickup unit in the tank, is there some way that it can get air? One time I was low on fuel and leaving a light to go into the fuel stop, it lost prime and I had a problem starting again. A couple of times with the nose up hill, it started hard with low fuel. It there a rubber link in the tank?

Once running it is fine and any air is purged, no problem, fine fuel pressures.

Haulin,
I read on some forum recently that a guy had one fitting on his FASS that was leaking air. If I recall, he had to replace the fitting to solve the problem.

thanks, I will look into that for soon. With a full tank, this morning it snapped right up to 15 pounds, no delay. It does have an air leak somewhere between the FASS and the tank pickup, that is sure.
