I ordered Timbo's APPS and it was at my door two days later. I've now driven the truck over 1500 miles and have not had the stumble/surge I described above. The part installed easily and the instructions were simple.

As stated above, the truck wasn't throwing any codes either.

I also installed Timbo's bombed APPs sensor about 1500 towing miles ago. The included directions were great and the installation went smooth. Tim sent the part overnight to me and showed up at the house around 10am. My truck was going to high idle by itself and was throwing P0122 code. This did the trick. I think the truck is running better than new.

1k miles on my sensor and so far all symptoms have gone away.
Dead pedal 3-8 times daily, Surging with cruise on and off, smoother pedal operation as well. Thanks tim for your great contribution.

Good to know... especially on the dead pedal, with no codes showing up!!
Thanks for the feedback.

Just installed today, ordered last Thursday, Received it on Monday. LOVED the kit format, and immediately had my cruise control back on the test drive. Was also getting dead pedal 2-3 times a day but I'm sure thats gone as well.

Thanks for an awesome kit with good instructions to boot.

Glad I found this thread because my 01 has started surging last couple highway trips. Could be the VP44 (120k miles on the stocker) but I'll try Timbo's APPS first.

pull codes first, as an APPS "usually" will code if faulty, or you will have a VP code.
personally I would not throw parts at it until, at least pulling codes!

Hi Nick, I do have a code - 0123 APPS high voltage. It's been there well before the surging started so I didn't worry about it. I'll do the Timbo APPS first and if it still acts funny I'll start gearing up for a VP44 and full fuel system upgrade. I'm on borrowed time with 185k on the original VP44.

Edit: the full list of PCU codes are 0500, 0123, 1693, 1694 and the ECU codes are 1693, 0577

10-4, after reading your last post, it sounded as if you were just swapping parts....good to see thats not the case. Timbo's apps is a good deal. I've installed 3 of them. it will run you about 200$, thats including shipping/exchange/customs, he will ship via USPS (postal service) dont use fedex or ups or you will get stung with exorbiant customs fees!

APPS replaced

Installed Tim's APPS to cure TC going in and out of lockup, Tim mentioned it may be RFI from the alternator and gave several cures for that and he was right. The problem quit after I installed the new APPS but returned in a week or so.I disconnected the alternator and the problem went away, so the problem is noise in the DC voltage from the alternator.
A filter is a capacitor to ground, and they are cheep but I don't know what size or type. Any one have a suggestion?
Thanks, PB

This worked, and I didn't change the APPS out. Also, I put some metal tape on the battery to battery wire, and the alternator wire.

No issues in the year since I've done it.

I did do this procedure: http://www.suncoastconverters.com/im...d%20rewire.pdf first, and the problem resurfaced (with taped wires). I then did the first procedure I mentioned, and it disappeared.

Yep, tried the wrapping the wire bundle where it passes the alternator and my problems went away, wish I had tried it before replacing the APPS. I suppose the alternator has some issues or it wouldn't be inducing the AC in the wires.
But it is charging to spec. so it turned out to be a simple fix.
Thanks for all your help guys.
