98's to 02's is your truck properly if not answer!!!
I for one, would like to know what the heck is wrong with that truck.
It seems that the majority of us have had minor issues if any and I feel fortunate to have not had a problem yet.
For those that have had issues, I have seen Ted give sound advice in the help and other forums when people have needed it and I have appreciated his knowledge of these trucks.
Somebody here has to have an idea of what the problem is with his truck, speak up and lets see if we can get this situation resolved instead of everyone ripping him cause he does not have a favorable opinion of his truck.

I dont mean to bash at all - just being honest....I just dont know how you can take them to court after youve driven a truck for 7 years and have 300 000 kms on it. ??
Ive run across a lot of people in my day and - Im definitely NOT saying this is the case here but some people tend to exaggerate, some people tend to make things out worse than they are, some people just like to compalin, and some people are never happy. Maybe the dealer just doesnt have the knowledge to fix it or maybe Neveragain approaches the dealer in the same fashion he posts here, and the dealer doesnt want to bother??
No vehicle is perfect...Dodge and Cummins included. They ALL have problems. Just dont expect a dealer to help you very much....They just sell the trucks.
It would be nice if we could help him out and solve some/all of his problems.

.....but it probably isn't reasonable to expect that, huh? As for trying to help, I asked in my first post if there were any DTC's as it seemed applicable to some of the troubles he was having, but got no response.

I can pretty much tell you allready what's most likely wrong with our truck...
Make sure both batteries are of equal power, not one newer than the other, also make sure the battey terminals are super clean, no battery fuzz anywhere, and no corrosion on any cables. Make sure the grounds are perfect, any corrosion wreaks havoc on 24v's. Clean your intake Air Temperature sensor, replace your MAP sensor, check your lift pump pressures. You need to have ATLEAST 10PSI at idle, and 8PSI at 3,000RPM. If you can, take it on a road test with a pressure gauge attached, if it ever falls below 8PSI, replace it,, unless you have a chip, or injectors, then it can pull down as low as 2PSI if you are putting out over 375-400 FLYWHEEL HP.
Make sure your Fuel Filter, and AirFilter is clean, or replace them if it's been more than 3 oil changes on either one.
If the truck is ever hard to start when hot, then replace the injection pump. If the truck is harder to start when the fuel is low, you might have some algae in the tank, then you should run some algacide, and water remover/dissolver.
Make sure the turbo is healthy. Remove the intake hose and make sure the turbo has no more than a 1/16" inch play from center, or no more than almost 1/8" from side to side. If the turbo shows any signs of rubbing, or if pieces are missing, replace it.
Make sure the wasegate is operating correctly. With the intake hose out of the way, remove the rubber hose coming from the wastegate canister (a brown/golden canister about the size of a small can of baby food, attached to the rusty side of the turbo), apply about 20psi of regulated air to the hose, and make sure the rod coming out of the canister moves. If it does not move, spray some PB Blaster (or WD-40 equivelant) on all the connections, and in the canister, and let it sit for an hour or so, then re-apply your 20psi. If it takes more than 20psi to open, or if the canister has to have an airflow to maintain the open position, it needs replaced.
If your truck came with a catalytic converter, replace it, or remove it if you are over 100,000 miles. At 75,000 miles the cat has a 90% chance of being clogged enough to seriously hurt performance.
Make sure the intercooler is in good shape, you can remove it and have a radiator shop pressure test it, or you can do it yourself with some PVC pipe, adaptors, and a schrader valve. Apply 10psi (no need ofr ANY more,, after 10psi, the intercooler is a bomb) to the intake system and spray some soapy water on the intercooler and intercooler boots. Be sure to spray the intake gaskets around the grid heater, and the larger gasket underneath all the injector lines. Some air will pass through the motor when you pressure test, but if too much air seems to be passsing through (enough to prohibit you from building pressure, just bump the motor a tad and the valves should close enough).
Make sure the exhaust does not have any dents, and that the tip is no squashed either from a blow out, or debris on the road. A small ( 1/2" or less) won't significantly hurt performance, but a 5" polished stainless tip won't look too bad either
Check also to make sure that your truck is actually getting to full throttle. With the motor off, remove the plastic cover by the front of the motor,, it looks a little egg shaped, kinda like a egg, and rectangle mated, and this is it's son... Anyway, remove that cover, and while the throttle is being depressed (don't use excessive force, just what is needed to go full throttle), and make sure that the lever underneath that cover is reaching full throttle. DO NOT ADJUST ANYTHING UNDER THAT COVER. It will immediatly ruin the throttle position sensor. If you are not getting Full Throttle, make sure there is not anything like a husky liner, or anything else under the pedal to limit the pedal travel.
I think that's about it. if you've done all that, and the truck still seems to run like crap, replace the fuel lines, and any rubber line in the fuel system, then replace the injection pump.
Hope this helps,
Merrick

Maybe I'm just lucky or its the low mileage(62k) but my '99 always starts right up hot or cold, runs perfectly on stone stock engine.I have a slide in camper and tow a 17" boat all over the mountains in colo. and its amazing the vehicles I blow by goin up the passes.I've never touched the motor or LP or anything.
LP/VP44 less then 48k miles
Dash cracked - I may have hit with something to help it, cleaner that is.
Clutch - I drive it like I stole it most of the time
Upgrade to T-style steering to help those issues
I can list a lot of stuff but face it these trucks have issues. I just like the 19.5 mpg.
