6 speed input shaft

what years did they swap in the bigger input shaft? my truck was made in 06/00. this does mean i have a 2001 with the 1 3/8 right? this has always confused me

The 245hp HO's got the big inputs, the 235 SO's for the little shaft. Check the HP rating on the data plate to confirm.

I though it was a blanket factory upgrade in '01 to the big input. because of too many 1 1/4" failures.

There were no 235hp 6spd's in '01, all 245's if it had a 6spd. But they had a goofy build date with regards to the '00 and '01 model years. Thats why I said check the data plate for hp rating.

oh ok cool, i have the 245 HO, so that means i have the bigger shaft?

Supposedly. I believe the larger shafted trannys can be id'd by a spacer between the starter and bellhousing IIRC. I may be wrong on this.

If everything is stock, that would be accurate. But if the truck ever had a 13" clutch installed on an SO 6 spd, it will likely have the space as well. Both of my trucks have the starter spacer.
