Edge EZ & VP44

Anybody hear of or know if an Edge EZ can take out the VP44 electronics?

I'm reluctant to reinstall my EZ on a new VP44 suspecting it may have had something to do with my last pump's failure.

Are you sure that your VP44 was bad. I had some intermittant problems with fuel last year. The engine would just cut out then come back. I could count on it doing it a couple times a week. I had a fairly new pump and did not think it could be out. I quaried Edge about the EZ to see if maybe it could be the cause. They told me that is was possible and to unplug it and see if the problem stopped. It did. Turns out it was an old EZ that could not be repaired so I sent it back to them and they made me a good deal on a new one. Problem solved. I thought it was big of them to admitt after about four years that it could be their product. I am very satisfied with them.

^ a true possibility. With a mod your going to place different demands on the engine, in this case, w/the EZ your adding electronic HP and with that more fuel is required and placing some added load on the VP to supply the fuel. I would make triple sure my fuel psi is a constant 10+. I see you have the FASS so things s/b good but based on the threads here some haven't been happy w/them. My VP was cutting out intermittantly on the hwy and I thought it was my Quad but it turned out to be the VP.

If I recall the ez is fully within the stock vp's fueling parameters. It just alters the timing and when full fueling is allowed but does not really do much more than that. Now an edge comp, juice or other type pump wire tapping box is a different story it actually interupts the signal to the vp and replaces it with its own and can make the vp work harder than the dodge ecm will allow it too (hence the wire tap).

I had an older ez I purchased used. After sometime the ez failed and it did cause numerous codes. I sent to edge who did offer me a good deal on a new one I just didn't accept. 2 yrs later the vp is still working good.

I know first hand. EZ was not the problem on two of my pumps, contaminated fuel was. Sent the EZ off after second one replaced just to be sure, and they did a free diagnostics and said all was good, even updated to latest software at no charge. Outstanding company in my opinion.

Pump shop I bought from could only check one thing before knowing if I had a legitimate claim. They then showed why would not honor Bosch warranty when they pulled plate at ports. As per Bosch bulletin, with colored pictures, if discoloration inside this rotor area is present due to contaminated fuel, as mine had, warranty is void. EZ had nothing to do with this.

I hooked it back up after about 500 miles on the new VP just to let it break itself in so to speak, even though I doubt there is such a thing on VP's, but I could be wrong. About twenty thousand miles later and no problems with EZ on middle setting.

Taz as mentioned above, send it back to edge to have them test it, I had a EZ and never had an issue with it. Electronics are like light bulbs, they can fail without rhyme or reason, and VP electronics are weaker than light bulbs!
