5w40 rotella t synthetic questions
well the dino rotella is cummins approved so i don't see why the synthetic wouldn't be
was going to do a change to synthetic last oil change but stuck with the dino.
15w40 rotella 15 dollars for 4 liters. synthetic 5w40 30 dollars for 4 liters

I've been using it for about 3 years. I like it but you may have to replace some seals if you switch over. It doesn't damage your seals but it does clean all the sludge and gunk away which may have been plugging bad spots in the old seals. So depending on the condition of your seals you may start having leaks. It happened to both my trucks when I switched over. I think it's worth it though. It's not a true synthetic it is dino based, but it is comparable to sythetic. I have read that synthetics nearly eliminate wear so to me its worth using. The first thing I noticed upon swtching was the engine spun much easier and I did notice slight MPG increase.
Ive been running it since June and it runs great, hasnt needed any added fluid yet, and still looks good. My plan is for one oil change per year with this stuff as I average 7500 to 8500 miles a year. I plan on having it analyzed in April or May to see how its working
thats it???? wow you barely drive that thing.
Rotella or not
I use Amsoil in mine 100% syn 5w 30 year round bought the truck used with
130000k no leaks runs smoother increased MPG an my oil samples show basicly no wear . But he's right if you have a motor showing evidence of leaks
sometimes a synthetic in the process of cleaning everthing up will leak . That being said good quality syn lubes have addatives in them that help condition seals an prevent seal wear an leakage .

Rotella Syn gives almost instant oil pressure even in REALLY cold temps.
It's a great winter oil, imo. There are other great winter oils out there, too (Valvoline PB extreme, Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck, Redline 15w 40, Royal Purple Longrider, etc etc).
