Hello all! I am wondering if there is any place on the internet that i can find the vacuum lines that run from the engine bay down to the transfer-case then up to the front drive shaft. I'd rather support someone on-line that sells parts at retail rather than the dodge dealership who wants $2000 too much for simple parts. TIA!

---I think mine are worn out/cracked or plugged because im getting good vacuum to the switch on the t-case but after that nothing. I just replaced the switch yesterday thinking that was the problem, but maybe its just the lines? If this doesn't cure it, i'm going to posiloc it and forget it. i'd rather spend the $250 on posiloc rather than something that is going to fail after a year or so.

I'd posiloc it and be done. The vacuum system is problematic and never seems to last long without trouble.

If the posiloc is reasonably priced, I think you'd be happy with it.

I lucked out and got a late 02 that doesn't have the vacuum system, so I can't offer you any firsthand experience.

I don't know who to send you to for replacement lines. But I had the lines pulled off at the transfer case by some debris once.

I would check all the lines. You may be able to use a vacuum pump to check CAD operation.

I might do that this weekend, pull them all off and maybe try and run a couple PSI of compressed air through the lines and see if i can get any debris out of them. Not sure what the previous owner did, but the under-body of the truck is DIRTY! if that doesn't help, i'll order this posi-lok system (http://www.4x4posi-lok.com/app_dodge.html). I just dont want to spend $250 if i dont have to but the shatty weather is coming quick! I just simply put my trust in the guy i bought the truck off of that the 4wd worked "great" .. yeah right! i zip-tied all the fittings after the 4-prong connector on the t-case thinking maybe one of the boots was loose but that was to no help either ..

 

I bought my Posi-Lock out of J.C. Whitney two years ago for $179.

 

I am now looking for that vacuum line plug that goes over the switch. The holes for the main vacuum going to the vacuum pump is wallowed out and it leaks. They way I found this is by hooking up an AC vacuum pump to it, which runs much quieter than my 12v. I could then hear the vacuum leak and when I found the right way to squeeze the plug the CAD worked like it was supposed to, telling me it is the rubber plug with the 4 lines going into it, so I'm looking for one. Probably have to go to the dealer for it.

Why cant (I've never looked) you cut the plug off and push each hose onto the appropiate nipple, if it works it would be cheaper than buying a new hose, only problem is making sure not to mix up the hoses

 

That's just it, mixing up those hoses. I have not yet run across a diagram for those hoses so I am not sure what I would be dealing with if I mixed them up, taking them all loose. I ordered it from the dealer, and wholesale is 6 bucks and change, if they found the right part. This one is kind of elusive in their catalogs.

I think there is only 4, just cut one at a time and replace as you go, thats if you cant get the 6$ part
