2nd VP44

Just got my truck back from the dealer. 2nd injector pump . I've only got 70000 miles on my truck. at this pace maybe i'll get 1 more before I'm out of warranty . dealer said fuel flow is good and pressure is good so they didn't replace lift pump. the way things are going this may be a very costly truck after its out of warranty. Their has to be some kind of fix to make the pump last longer than 35000miles. any ideas???????????????

You probably just lucked out and got two bad pumps.

My original croaked with under 4,000 miles on it.
It was going bad for about 500 miles before it got bad enough for the dealership to see the signs.
Replacment has been going strong for 30K.
(pretty sure I got a reman, perhaps you got a new replacement?)

Best thing for the pump is good flow of lubricating and cooling diesel.
Change the filter often, perhaps throw in some additive to help lube things up every other tankful or more.

I always run PS and never let the fuel tank get below 1/2 tank.(good heat sink) heat kills VP's. change fuel filter every 5000 mi. rather it needs it or not. Thinking about F.A.S.S. system. is it worth the cost. right now I've got a holley blue I'm running on it. Just bought a fuel pressure gauge. probably install it this weekend. still glad I didn't get a ferd or G.M. product

All mine ever did was idle rough.

Anytime the RPM's got below 1,000 it sounded like it was missing.
Would almost die coming down offramps.

No codes, no APPS symptoms, never died completely.
