The hard part should still be good, but you may need to replace gaskest in areas that got real hot. Is the valve cover melted? Magnesium, what that valve cover likely is, melts at 1202F. Aluminum melts at 1220F. That sucker was exceeding those temps for a while.
We calls them crispy critters. You'll have to worry about the timing case, which is aluminum, and valve seals, which are rubber or teflon, alternator,m vacuum and PS pump, the pushrod cover gasket. The ECM, on the block behind the fuel filter, is surely cooked.
It sounds pretty hot and worrys me that the integrity of the cast iron may have bene affected (probably why you can get it for 300 bucks), but I don't know much about what heat like that would do to cast iron.
It might be a good engine, it's just hard to say. If it were me, I'd see what else I could find out about how heat affects cast iron first, then if I bought it I'd get it running and see how it runs before I started my conversion.

Sounds like bargain to me.
Even replacing big parts would still put you dollars ahead.
Rebuild it with RV pistons, a Marine head, and other goodies and you'll have a GREAT engine!
The 2002 blocks are the best 24V block.
