Fleetguard LF3970....???
Fleetguard LF3970....???
Anyone have a clue what this (Straopore) filter is for? The local truck place gave me this one today, and it looks to be the same (thread) size as the Donaldson I have on there now. I'd been running the Stratopore's, but put the Donaldson on there last time in a crunch. This filter does not appear any different than the LF3894 that I remember, but I don't know for sure, and it looks the same as that D'son I have on there now.
Why don't they seel these things at the local auto parts store???? Geno's is nice but the shipping

Don't assume the filter is the same as a 3894......you need the specs from Fleetguard. Case material thickness and the filter element spring pressure could be very different as could filter element surface area. The correct filter is very important for a 24v since oil pressure is so high.....this is the reason 12v filters shouldn't be used on a 24v. I would not use the 3970 until you can confirm it meets the specs of the 3894 - which I doubt it does.....there are two different part #'s there for a reason.
